When you create an account, we collect your name, email address, and password. You may also optionally provide your city, state/region, country, birthday, and fishing preferences to personalize your experience. When you use Bushwhack, we collect information you provide including fishing logs, locations, gear details, and photos.

If you enable push notifications in our mobile apps, we store a device notification token so we can deliver those notifications.

We also automatically collect usage data such as pages visited and features used to improve our service.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and maintain the Bushwhack service
• To calculate statistics, badges, and analytics for your account
• To process subscription payments via Stripe
• To send important service-related communications
• To improve and optimize our platform

3. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We share data only with:

• Stripe: for payment processing (Premium subscriptions)
• DigitalOcean: photos you upload are stored on DigitalOcean Spaces, our cloud storage provider
• Open-Meteo: when you log a catch, we send the catch location's coordinates to the Open-Meteo weather service to fill in weather conditions
• Google (Firebase): if you enable push notifications in our mobile apps, notifications are delivered through Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging
• Google AdSense: for displaying advertisements; Google may collect browsing data to serve personalized ads
• Other users: if you enable public profile features, other users who follow you can view your fishing stats and logs. If you are a Premium member, your display name, avatar, and catch totals may appear on the public leaderboard

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. Payment information is handled entirely by Stripe and never touches our servers.

You have the right to:

• Access your personal data
• Update or correct your information
• Delete your account and associated data
• Export your fishing log data

6. Cookies & Advertising

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and remember your preferences (such as dark mode).

We also use Google AdSense to display advertisements on our site. Google and its advertising partners may use cookies, web beacons, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites. This includes the use of the DoubleClick cookie, which enables Google and its partners to serve ads based on your browsing activity.
